Factory FMF/KTM Team Injury Update
Murrieta, CA – After coming off of its most successful racing season in its history, the Factory FMF/KTM Team has been plagued with injuries during the 2012 season. Luckily, all three injured team riders are on their way to recovery.
Reigning WORCS and AMA National Hare & Hound Champion, Kurt Caselli, injured his shoulder earlier this season. While on the sidelines to allow his shoulder to recover he underwent surgery for an old knee injury and is expected to return to racing within the next month.
Reigning GNCC Champion, Charlie Mullins, suffered a crash three weeks ago which resulted in a fractured radial head on his arm and some torn ligaments. He is expected to return to riding in two weeks and will most likely return to the GNCC Series at the tenth round. “It is really unfortunate to get hurt mid-season,” remarked Mullins. “Luckily, I did not completely dislocate my elbow and my recovery time is short. I should be able to start riding after the John Penton GNCC and will focus on getting back on the top step of the podium at the final four rounds.”
GNCC and National Enduro rider Cory Buttrick, who took a win at a National Enduro event earlier this year, suffered a torn ACL and fractures in his tibia, fibula and femur after a crash at the Cajun National Enduro. He underwent surgery two weeks ago and will be released to ride at the end of this year. “I am really bummed about my injury as this type of injury has such a long recovery process,” stated Buttrick. “On the positive side, my doctor has informed me that everything went well and I will begin physical therapy next week.”
