What Happened at JDay Offroad Round 12

Sept. 27, 2012 Staff Blog

Round twelve of the J Day Offroad GP series visited Monson, MA for the second time of the season for the Oliver Parent Memorial GP. The track was groomed to perfection, complete with its own gravity cavity and long steep sand hill. The fans where fired up and the riders where ready to do battle on another fast flowing J Day Offroad course.

Moto one started with Jon Girroir blasting off the line to take the moto one holeshot with Kyle Hangos aboard a 1990 CR125 in tow. Jon Girroir put down lap after lap of blisteringly fast laps pulling away from the pack. At the end of the moto Jon Girroir had a 25 second gap over second places Robby Marshall.  Despite a middle of the pack start Robby Marshall worked his way into second place by the end of the first lap. Robby Marshall rode consistently fast to finish a strong second place ahead of Josh Cennamo. Third and fourth place went to Josh Cennamo and Jared Boothroyd who battled all moto long putting the crowd on there feet. The two found each other on the second lap and raced wheel to wheel for the next six laps.  A hard charging Bob Santheson, who started in the back of the pack, worked his way up into a top five position by the end of the 30-minute moto.
In between motos the sun dried out the course leaving it in pristine shape for the second pro moto. When the flag dropped it was Bob Santheson with the explosive STS Motorsports Holeshot award! Bob Santheson lead the first lap until the very end when Scotty Decosta made the pass for the lead before going through scoring gate.  Decosta was passed by Jon Girroir on lap two and Girroir would continue to put down lap times no one could even come close to and win by over 40 seconds. Robby Marshall came from a close to dead last start to second place by the third lap. Marshall rode an unbelievable first half of the race making passes every other corner to work his way into second place.  Third place Josh Cennamo, who started in the rear of the pack, worked his way past half of the class on his way to another podium finish. Fourth place went to Jared Boothroyd who came back from a multiple crashes leaving him in 11th on the second lap to fourth place by the second to last lap. Fifth place went to STS Holeshot award winner Bob Santheson who rode incredible and finished inside the top five both motos.
Jon Girroir takes his tenth overall J Day Offroad win on the season. Jon Girroir has battled with the best, but still comes out on top. Can anyone beat Girroir? We will see at the next round in Putney, VT on October 7th
