Vurboffroad is literally just a few weeks shy of turning six months old. Just six months! Maybe it's the countless hours behind my Macbook, the 1,357 tweets or the 300 Instagram photos we've produced in just 180 days of being live that makes it all seem much longer than a mere 6 months. As many of you probably know, off-road is the underdog next to the likes of Motocross. "Yeah Meg, you keep saying that..." and I do, because it is. In trying to build a home next to the Vurbmoto mansion, our goals include building a foundation for off-road media, because there isn't already one in place for us to "improve" on, or "raise the bar." With that, I thank every single one of our readers and followers for hanging with us through our development. From our site launch to Spenser Robert's recent film Beyond the Dying Light, we've had so many great experiences leading up to this Summer break.
Last weekend at the Rattlesnake National Enduro, KTM rider Steward Baylor pushed his (now healed) wrist injury aside to take the overall win ahead of Mike Lafferty and Nick Fahringer, and keep his Championship points lead. As far as the GNCC and the National Enduro circuits, the players will take a break to enjoy their summer break as the West jumps back into the racing routine.
Now half way through the season, Colorado's Cody Schafer is on his way to another WEBE Championship. This past weekend, WEBE set up camp at the next stop of the series in Trinidad, Colorado. Schafer wasn't on the line to build on his points lead, leaving room for the rest of the field to find their own success. Enduro racer Ian Blythe took to the course with Killy Rusk in pursuit of beating Blythe for another WEBE win. Vurb's WEBE videographer, Kyle Schafer, stepped away from the camera to jump on his bike and race, taking an impressive 3rd overall. Summing up the front-runners, Daniel Olona and Travis Porter rounded out the top five.
Coming up next on the West coast is round 9 of WORCS at Cahuilla MX in Southern California and the Best in the Desert's annual Vegas to Reno. Summer break has been well appreciated, but we're ready to get back to racing.
