Jon Girroir 2012 J Day Champion!
Round 13 of the J Day Offroad series headed north to Putney, Vermont for the Wild West GP sponsored by Davenport Trucking! Leaf peeping season was in full swing; with mountains in the distance and farms for miles all around, the scenery was epic. The track made its debut on the J Day Offroad circuit, and was a total crowd favorite. The KTM extreme section was incredible with everything from big log double jumps to tractor tires. The fans witness New England’s top riders riding on the only course of its kind first hand. The woods sections were incredible as usual designed to create tight racing action with fast flowing trails and multiply line choices.

Moto one started off with last rounds winner Jon Girroir grabbing the holeshot leading the stacked pro class into the woods. Girroir led the pack of riders lap after lap building up a two-minute lead, before Girroir crashed hard on the tail end of the race. Girroir would get back on the bike and finish the race with a forty five second lead. Second place went to Dylan Macritchie who was in the back of the pack on the first lap but steadily worked his way up.  He passed a handful of riders by the halfway point and by the fourth lap Macritchie moved into second place. Third place went to Josh Cennamo who injured his shoulder and hand in a crash earlier in the week. Josh Cennamo was racing with Jason Connel and Jared Boothroyd for the whole moto; you could throw a blanket over the three riders at any time on the track. Josh Cennamo fell to the back of the pack early but made late moto passes to regain third place. Fourth place goes to Jason Connel who edged out Jared Boothroyd who finished fifth.
With the pro class warmed up and ready to go, it was once again Jon Girroir grabbing the STS Motorsport Holeshot award! Jon Girroir went into the woods with the entire pro class on his rear tire, coming out of the woods second place was 15 seconds back. Girroir rode consistently fast and built up a one-minute lead by the end of the 30-minute moto. Second place went to the injured Josh Cennamo who fought off the hard charging Dylan Macritchie. Josh Cennamo passed Jared Boothroyd on the second lap to secure second place. In the final turn of the moto Cennamo was off balance in a rut and tipped the bike over, with Dylan Macritchie hot on his tail Cennamo pushed his bike to the finish with Dylan Macritchie only inches behind him.  Dylan Macritchie came through on this first lap in ninth place but was able to work his way pass the majority of the riders and into third place. Jason Connel had an incredible start, which allowed Connel to ride very consistently to take fourth place in the moto. Fifth place goes to A-250 rider Tom Pierce who despite starting a row behind the pros was able to work his way into the top five of the pro class.

Jon Girroir takes his 11th overall win as well as clinches the 2012 J Day Championship. Jon Girroir has had an incredible season winning 11 out of the 13 rounds and wraps up the championship two rounds early. Despite some new faces on the pro line no one was able to challenge Jon Girroir. With only two more races of the J Day Offroad series left, could a new opponent emerge to challenge Girroir at the next round in New Ashford, MA?
