Catalyst: Justin Soule

July 20, 2012 Interview

Smigel over at Kawasaki must keep his eye out for the nicest guys around to ride for the Factory Monster Energy Kawasaki  team. Justin Soule is another one of those top athletes that will take the time out of his day to say "Hey!", smile and wave. As Soule came up through the ranks, he spent time as a Team Green Kawasaki rider and eventually graduated to ride for Factory Red Bull KTM. By 2010, he made the switch to green to ride for the Factory Monster Energy Kawasaki off-road team, and has put in his best results since. Something you may not know, Soule has lead the church service at WORCS for over 5 years and is a Pastor! Read on for a few fun facts from the man himself in this week's Catalyst.

The Fuel

Well my outlook on nutrition might be a little bit different than most motorcycle racers.  I believe that cyclist (bicycle racers) are the number one studied athlete.  The amount of training and seat time those guys/girls log completely blows my mind.  They truly put there bodies through the ringer.  With that said, I follow a cycling diet made up by Dr.Allen Lim. He has a cook book called, The Feed Zone, that is not only high in nutrition, but exceptional in taste as well.  It truly is the best of both worlds. If it fuels a cyclist, it will fuel a moto guy.

The Tube
I love Leonardo DiCaprio. He is by far my favorite actor, so any movie with him.  If I had to pick my favorite movie it would be Catch Me if You Can and Shutter Island coming in a close second.  As far as regular television, Food Network all day, everyday! It's clean television that the whole family can enjoy.

The Text
Shoot, I definitely have to go with the Bible. I read that thing up everyday. I like to do a Proverb everyday, matching what day of the month it is.  Other than that, I really like Road Bike Action magazine and all dirt bike mags. The last book series I read was The Hunger Games, and I was hooked with everyone, super exciting.

The Sound
I love all types of music. I've played the guitar, drums and a little bit of piano for a good 10+ years, so I definitely live and breathe the structural parts of a catchy melody and a well written song.  So what's playing on my iPod?  You can definitely find some Pink, Katy Perry, Collie Budz, Jeremy Camp, Hillsong United, and most if not all different types of Country.  There are so many great artists and different types of genres of music, it's hard to boil it down to just a few.

The World Wide Web
I am on the Internet a lot. I love checking out all the racing action on vurboffroad, RacerX and mx775.  On the bicycle side, BikeRumor and Cannondale are my main two.  And the close to my heart, Craigslist, searching for junk I don't need.

The Motivation
Other than being self-motivated and wanting to win for myself, I always want to represent for the ones close to my heart, and that being family, friends and all my sponsors.  I truly know I wouldn't be here without any of them. I am a very loyal person and want to take care of those who take care of me.  When I win, they win. I want that for me and those that surround me.  So when I am tired and running low on charge, thinking of those surrounding me fires me right back up to push past any pain or self doubt.

The Down Time
My downtime is being with the love of my life, my wife Courtney.  She is my best friend who I ride bicycles, hike, laugh and joke with.  She's a lot of fun to be with.  So any down time is spent with her.
