Analytics- MotoSport.com Showshoe GNCC

Some big things went down at the MotoSport.com Snowshoe GNCC this weekend in West Virginia. We saw Rory Mead take his 2nd overall win of the season, Jason Thomas acheived his first XC2 win in 2012, Steward Baylor is back and Maria Forsberg continued her flawless season. Read on for more highlights from one of the biggest rounds on the circuit.

XC 1 Class

Race Winner:  Rory Mead
Podium: 1) Rory Mead 2) Kailub Russell 3) Paul Whibley
Most Laps Led:  Rory Mead (7/7)
Major Crashes:  N/A
Major Incidents: Mead and that 300-XC are a match made in Heaven, and his techincal riding skills gave him an advantage in the rocky West Virginia terrain. Taking the overall win, Mead is now in the championship contention in 3rd. This has been a year of improvement for Thad Duvall, but also a year of bad luck, and unfortunately Duvall wasn't going to find luck on his side at Snowshoe. On lap two in 7th place, Duvall ran out of gas and was forced to jump back in at 17th after a gas fill from his crew. Nick Fahringer had his best ride of the season yet and looked smooth this round on his Husaberg. Canadian sensation Bobby Prochnau successfully attempted his first GNCC and took 5th overall, impressive for a (GNCC) rookie. Charlie Mullins was MIA after an elbow injury sustained prior to Snowshoe and had to sit this one out.

Major Crashes: N/A
Major Incidents:  This is Jason Thomas' first XC2 win this season, but it didn't come easy as he and Delong battled throughout the first 3 laps. It's hard to say if Steward Baylor's recent wrist injury was the culprit for his 3rd place finish, but regardless he was able to hold on for the full 3 hours and keep a grip on his points lead in XC2.

Major Incidents: Canada's lovely Chantelle Bykerk made it out to West Virginia for her first ever GNCC event. Not only did she give Factory KTM rider Maria Forsberg a run for her money, but she took 2nd in class and 15th overall in the A.M race.
